Known as the sunshine state, you might want to cool off while visiting Florida, and what better way to do it than visiting one of their many water parks or taking a dip in the picturesque oceans that surround the state. Offering many water activities both on land and sea, here’s a rundown of some of our favourite activities for the whole family.

Florida has many waterparks up and down the state such as Adventure Island in Tampa and Disney’s Blizzard Beach, to name a few. A great activity to keep the whole family entertained all in one place. Water slides, wave pools and lazy rivers means there’s something for everyone.

Experience wildlife in a new way

Fancy being as serene as Florida’s waters? Chill water activities don’t go amiss as you can glide across the waters in a calming fashion. Such activities include paddle-boarding, kayaking and open water diving. Take the plunge in Ginnie Springs, known to be one of the clearest springs in the state, and experience an array of wildlife in their natural habitat. Take a breath from the bustling shores and paddleboard or kayak along Florida’s oceans and springs, allowing you to experience wildlife in a new way.

If you’re looking for the action and want a pump of adrenaline, parasailing and wakeboarding will tickle your adventurous bone. Visit Siesta Key to see the beautiful views from new heights, parasailing along its clear waters. If speed is your thing, Orlando Watersports Complex puts your skills to the test as it pulls you along the Florida waters. Whether you’re a novice or a pro, there’s something for everyone!

Florida’s underwater creatures

Get closer to Florida’s underwater creatures and snorkel in the oceans. The most popular spot being John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, experiences the diverse marine life and even dolphins and manatees in their natural habitat. And if that is not enough for you and you want to experience the taste of the ocean, go scalloping in Homosassa Bay near Tampa during its season between July and September.

If you want to get a closer look at the ocean wildlife, Discovery Cove is for you! Situated in Orlando, this day resort experience allows you to get up close with some of your favourite deep-sea friends. Snorkel with rays and tropical fish and get a kiss from a dolphin – Discovery Cove is perfect for animal lovers. Experience cool water fish through their underwater walking tour as you wear a dive helmet, allowing you to get a good view of the sea creatures as well as the sharks (placed behind panoramic windows).

So, you have done all the water activities out there and now you want to become a part of Florida’s waters – Mermaid Academy is perfect for your kids who you cannot drag out of the water. Located in Orlando, your kid’s dreams will come true as they learn to be one of the oceans most mythical creatures. Given their very own shimmering, iridescent tail, they’ll learn how to swim like their favourite ocean friends.

After you learn what Florida has to offer and decide to relocate here with your family, give us a call. We’ll be glad to help you find the best new home for you and your family so you can enjoy these “cool” water activities all year long.
